On the car ride up to NEPLS today, I watched in amazement as Eli used his cell phone's web interface to trigger a script that made the 2005 ICFP programming contest go live exactly at 10am (9am CT). We were lucky -- around Williamstown the reception started getting spotty, but luckily we hit a good patch just as it was striking 10:00.
I was one of three people to witness the activation of this international programming contest. Who'd have guessed it was happening in a beat-up old car bouncing down the back streets of western Mass?
